Silt builds up naturally in any watercourse; this can cause practical problems for users and wildlife. Nutrients in silt cause weeds to grow and starve the water of oxygen. It can also be a health hazard, leading to blue green algae and other contaminants.

Good management of water courses will at some point necessitate periodic dredging and maintenance to ensure that they continue to thrive.

How do we work?

First, we’ll arrange an initial survey of the lake or pond. This will enable us to assess any eroded banks or edges and identify the volume of silt and potential disposal options. We can then provide an overview of potential project costs and legislation requirements.

  • Silt Disposal & Land restoration
    We will analyse the silt and if it is suitable for re-distribution to agricultural land, we can manage the whole process for you, including applying for a Waste Exemption Certificate on your behalf.
  • Edge restoration:
    We can use a variety of materials, including natural products, to restore eroded water edges so that they meet both aesthetic, environmental and safety requirements.
  • Weed Clearance:

    Cutting and removal of aquatic weeds using specialist plant and equipment.

The cost for each project is dependent on the size of the lake or pond, the amount and ultimate location of the silt and any restoration work that may be required.
