Blue Boar provides a standalone dredging consultancy service to determine whether a project should be undertaken and if so, which method of dredging will be the most suitable and cost-effective.
Our consultancy service usually consists of five stages:
Step 1
A full survey will determine the volume of silt to be removed. At this stage, we’ll also make recommendations about the type of excavation needed – for example, suction or floating dredging.
Step 2
We’ll conduct a sediment analysis using specialist soil scientists to ensure whether the silt is suitable for redistribution onto agricultural land. If it isn’t, we can recommend alternative uses or methods of disposal if required.
Step 3
We can apply for a Waste Exemption Certificate on your behalf and liaise with the Environment Agency to demonstrate that the silt will have a positive environmental impact on agricultural land.
Step 4
A services search will ensure that there are no submerged pipelines that could be affected. We will liaise with local gas and electricity companies to arrange any searches needed.
Step 5
And finally, we’ll carry out an ecology survey. This will identify any protected species such as newts or water voles because these could affect the overall project.
